Value Drawing Portrait
Find an image that you want to draw. Person, animal, thing. Map out the shapes of the values that you see. Be as accurate and precise as you can be. After you draw the value shapes on the printed copy of the photo, draw the same shapes onto a sheet of drawing paper, copying them as accurately as possible. Draw lightly. Now match the values that appear in the original photograph. Decide if the value edge is a hard edge or a soft edge and blend it accordingly.
